After his Honorable
Discharge from the United States Army in 1955, he attended and graduated
from McAllister School of Embalming.
The Lord
Opened Many Doors For many
years, Mr. Granby operated his Funeral Business from the Wiley’s
Funeral Home. He always maintained faith that one day he would own
his own funeral establishment. On April 27, 1984, this dream became
a reality. Mr. Granby’s children currently work with him in
the family funeral business.
Mr. Granby,
his family and staff are involved with several community organizations,
which give Scholarships to our youth. Mr. Granby firmly believes
that “Education is the key to uplifting our community.”
AYRIS
EVANS GRANBY “An Inspiration To All”
Mrs. Ayris B. Granby, Registered Nurse. The title alone is impressive,
but it does not address the accomplishments of this great and beautiful
lady.
Mrs. Granby
has been and is the “Right Hand” to her husband,
“Granby”, in both their personal and business lives.
Mrs. Granby has given to her husband the love, understanding, support,
knowledge, and most importantly her time in the establishment of
the Granby’s Funeral Service, Inc.
Mrs. Granby’s
belief is “Quality Education Must Be Available For Our
Young People”. It was from Mrs. Granby’s inspiration
that the Granby’s Funeral Service, Inc. began to award scholarships
to the young people of the community through the various community
organizations.
AYRIS
B. GRANBY, the daughter of Samuel and Ayris Granby is the
Business Manager of the Granby’s Funeral Service, Inc. Ms.
Granby co- manages the Funeral Home with her brother, Lamont, with
emphasis on the administration of services.
In 1984, Ms.
Granby joined her father in business as the Business Manager of
Granby’s Funeral Service, Inc. In order to assist her family,
Ms. Granby attended and graduated from the American Academy McAllister
Institute for Funeral Service (the Alma Mater of both her father
and brother). Today, Ms. Granby is a New York State Licensed Funeral
Director. Ms. Granby and her brother are Second Generation Funeral
Directors.
LAMONT
SAMUEL GRANBY, son of Samuel and Ayris Granby is the Licensed
Manager of the Granby’s Funeral Service, Inc., since 1992.
He is responsible for the overall management of the Funeral Home.
After graduating
from college, Mr. Granby saw a need to join his father in the family
business. He enrolled and graduated from the American Academy McAllister
Institute of Funeral Service in 1985. He is also a graduate of Drew
University with a Masters of Divinity. The Reverend Lamont S. Granby
is an Ordained Minister.
The
Granby's Funeral Service, Inc. is a service organization whose primary
objective is to provide families with the necessary sensitive guidance
and support when the death of a loved one has occurred. The Federal
Trade Commission (FTC) classification of this organization is Funeral
Service Provider. This organization is governed by the Laws, Administrative
Rules and Regulations of the State of New York Relating to Funeral
Directing. In order to keep abreast of all the advancements within
Funeral Service, Mr. Granby, Ms. Granby and Rev. Granby are all
members of the National Funeral Directors Association, the New York
State Funeral Directors Association and the Metropolitan Funeral
Directors Association.
In 1994, the
Granbys recognized the necessity to expand their facilities. The
construction on their facilities began in June of 1996, and was
completed in October 1996. The Granby’s are very proud of
their new facility. To their credit, so is the community.
Our service is built upon the twin foundation stones of sympathy
and respect. This is our Creed - Consideration for the living.
